melt | calve | floe is a site-specific animation bringing together Lisa Buchanan’s vibrant visuals with motion, soundscapes, and select visual elements by janet galore. With a friendship spanning over 25 years, this is the first collaboration between the two artists. Designed for the WUG gallery in 2024.

Lisa Buchanan’s work is informed by the patterns and theories found in science, networks, and language. janet galore’s short videos and animations use sound and motion to create moody vignettes, implying larger narratives.

The animations were part of the exhibition, “Frosty.”
Frosty was a joint exhibition of Fresh Mochi and the Walk Up Gallery celebrating the theme of winter, frozen things, melting things, cold, chill, sparkly, and cool. Fresh Mochi will feature works from Alfred Harris, Connie Jones Ostrowski, Christian French, Katy Stone, and Harold Nelson, including paintings, collage, and installations. The Walk Up Gallery (WUG) in the windows of The Grocery Studios across the street will feature new site-specific animations, a collaboration of Lisa Buchanan x janet galore.
